I realize this was posted a few years ago, but if you are say around the age of 70 and you are preparing to minimize tax consequences for gains on crypto, what can you do right now to protect those investments so that they are cost based now in a protected ira or roth ira? Is that possible at age 70? Does that make any sense to do that at all? Short of moving out of the country, I need to prepare now before I have signicant increases in my cost basis, which is absolutely no guarantee but better done than not.
